BDAV,Thanjavur

History

Bishop Devadass Ambrose Vidyalaya was started on 7 June, 2019. An educational undertaking of the Diocese of Tanjore Society, its purpose is to provide a quality, value-based education and make it affordable to all - even to children from not so financially well-off families. On its very first year of inception, as many as 1092 students got enrolled at BDAV. In the last few months of running, the school has established a name for itself in the city for its academic excellence, discipline and individual care for children. Located on a sprawling 8.42 acre land, right in the center of the city, BDAV is housed in two mammoth buildings constructed with a particular sensitivity to student needs and staffed by a well qualified, dedicated team of teachers.

The school's 45 class rooms are spacious, well-lit and airy, all of them equipped with Smart Boards. BDAV has two libraries, two huge activity halls, labs, over 50 computers, high speed internet connection, play ground, courts, sports equipment, musical instruments - everything that goes into creating an optimal learning environment for the young minds.

The motto of the school is, "Shine to Illumine," which not only challenges students to shine in pursuit of academic excellence, but also inspires them to serve as torch bearers for future generations of students and others in the greater community.

The school is named after Most Rev Dr. M. Devadass Ambrose, the third Bishop of the Diocese of Thanjavur and the current President of the Society, as a tribute to the Society's long standing commitment to educational ministry in this region.
